The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform this week, and audience theories has been rampant.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and builds heated competitions and emotional bonds that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Will we find out more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't produce the show with fan service specifically in mind," the showrunner commented recently. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the major resolutions โ but they may be surprised at how quickly season 2 progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. [โฆ] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about season 2 โ especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a couple people make a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I can't post it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on October 29.
